The Class 447 electric multiple units (EMU) are a staple of Spain's suburban rail network, specifically for Renfe's Cercanías services. Developed to provide high acceleration and efficiency for frequent-stop commuter routes, these trains were manufactured primarily within Spain during the 1990s and early 2000s.
The production was carried out by a consortium of major railway manufacturers including CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles), Alstom (formerly MTM), and Siemens. The technology and assembly were deeply rooted in the Spanish industrial sector. Ownership of the service and the fleet resides with Renfe Operadora, the state-owned company that manages passenger rail transport in Spain under the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
