Slotts is a classic Swedish mustard brand founded in 1919 in Uppsala by the Holmgren family. For many decades, it was a staple of Swedish households and produced locally in Uppsala. The brand became famous for its distinct flavor and iconic glass jars and tubes.
In the mid-1990s, Slotts was acquired by the multinational corporation Unilever. Following a strategic restructuring in 2008, Unilever closed the historic Uppsala factory and moved production to other European facilities, primarily in Poland. Despite the change in manufacturing location, Slotts remains one of the most recognized Swedish food brands, continuing to dominate the local market as a subsidiary of a global conglomerate.
