Denon is a legendary name in the high-fidelity audio world, with a history dating back to 1910. Originally founded in Japan, the brand has been at the forefront of digital audio technology, having developed the world's first professional-use PCM digital recorder. Over the decades, Denon became a staple in both professional recording studios and home theaters, known for its high-quality AV receivers and turntables.
In the modern era, the brand's ownership has undergone significant consolidation. In 2002, Denon merged with Marantz to form D&M Holdings. Later, in 2017, the brand was acquired by Sound United LLC, a US-based company. Most recently, in 2022, Sound United was acquired by Masimo Corporation, a global medical technology company headquartered in California. This transition has allowed Denon to leverage advanced signal processing technologies while maintaining its Japanese engineering heritage. While massive production occurs in Southeast Asia, Denon still maintains its 'Shirakawa Audio Works' facility in Japan for its flagship 'Made in Japan' products.
