Fender is one of the most iconic names in musical history, founded by Leo Fender in Fullerton, California, in 1946. The company revolutionized music with the introduction of the Telecaster, Stratocaster, and the Precision Bass. Today, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) operates as a global brand with diverse manufacturing hubs. Its premium and custom shop instruments are primarily crafted in Corona, California, while the Player series and other mid-range models are manufactured in Ensenada, Mexico. Entry-level products under the Squier brand are typically produced in Asia, specifically Indonesia and China.

Ownership of Fender has transitioned several times since Leo Fender sold the company to CBS in 1965. In 1985, employees led by William Schultz purchased the company back, restoring its reputation for quality. Currently, Fender is majority-owned by private equity firms, primarily Servco Pacific Inc. and TPG Growth, ensuring its continued dominance in the global musical instrument market through innovation and strategic acquisitions of other historic brands.
