Marshall is one of the most iconic names in the music industry, famous for its 'Marshall stack' guitar amplifiers. Founded by Jim Marshall in Hanwell, London, in 1962, the brand became the sound of rock and roll through associations with legendary artists. Historically, manufacturing was strictly limited to the UK, but as the brand expanded into consumer electronics like headphones and Bluetooth speakers, production shifted globally.
In early 2023, a significant shift in ownership occurred when Marshall Amplification was acquired by the Swedish company Zound Industries. Zound had previously been the long-term licensing partner for Marshall's consumer goods. This merger formed the 'Marshall Group,' creating a unified entity that handles both the professional musician equipment and consumer audio retail market. While the headquarters remains in the UK for the amplifier division, the overarching corporate control is now based in Stockholm, Sweden.
