Barefoot Wine is one of the most recognized and best-selling wine brands globally, known for its approachable style and iconic footprint logo. The brand's history began in 1965 when California winemaker Davis Bynum first created 'Barefoot Bynum Burgundy' in his garage. The name referred to the traditional method of crushing grapes by treading on them barefoot.

In 1986, the brand was revitalized and officially launched as Barefoot Cellars by entrepreneurs Michael Houlihan and Bonnie Harvey. Their mission was to create a wine that was 'lifestyle-oriented' and less formal than traditional wines. Today, while the grapes are primarily sourced from California's Central Valley, the massive global demand means the product is bottled and distributed through various international facilities.

Since 2005, the brand has been part of the E. & J. Gallo Winery portfolio. Gallo is a massive, family-owned alcoholic beverage manufacturer based in Modesto, California. Under Gallo's ownership, Barefoot has expanded its range to include a wide variety of varietals, sparkling wines, and fruit-flavored wine spritzers, maintaining its position as a powerhouse in the affordable wine segment.
