Discover where a brand or product originates
Neutrogena’s Norwegian Formula line has a legendary origin story, stemming from a 1940s discovery by a Belgian chemist who noticed the soft hands of Arctic fishermen. The formula was designed to mimic the protective properties of the highly concentrated glycerin used to safeguard skin in harsh Nordic conditions. While the brand carries the Norwegian name and flag, it was originally developed by the American company Natone, which later became Neutrogena Corporation.
Today, Neutrogena is managed by Kenvue, a consumer health giant spun off from Johnson & Johnson. The product is manufactured globally in various licensed facilities to meet regional market demands while maintaining the signature dermatological standards the brand is known for worldwide.
