Founded in 1990 by Barbara Bielenda, the company has grown from a domestic family business into a major international player in the cosmetic industry. While it started as an independent Polish entity, the majority stake in Bielenda was acquired by the private equity firm Innova Capital in 2020. This partnership has allowed the brand to expand its portfolio through the acquisition of other brands like SheHand and Dermika, strengthening its position as a leading Polish cosmetics group manufacturing its products within its own laboratory and production facilities in Krakow, Poland.
