Ballerina is one of Sweden's most iconic biscuit brands, best known for its circular shape and cocoa-filled center. The brand originated in Kungälv, Sweden, in 1963, created by Göteborgs Kex. For decades, production remained in Kungälv, defining the brand as a staple of Swedish fika culture.

In recent years, the manufacturing landscape changed significantly. In 2022 and 2023, the production was moved from the historic factory in Kungälv to Orkla's new, highly automated biscuit factory in Ādaži, Latvia. Despite this move, the brand remains deeply tied to its Swedish roots and continues to be owned by Orkla, a leading Norwegian industrial conglomerate that acquired the brand through its acquisition of Göteborgs Kex. Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Sverige AB manages the brand locally.
