Mott's Clamato is a staple of Canadian beverage culture. While the Mott's brand was originally founded in the United States in 1842 by Samuel R. Mott, the Caesar cocktail itself is a distinctly Canadian invention, created in 1969 by Walter Chell in Calgary, Alberta. Clamato—a blend of tomato juice and clam broth—became the primary ingredient for this national drink.
Today, the Mott's Clamato brand is owned by Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP), a major American beverage conglomerate. Despite American ownership, the production of Clamato Caesar ready-to-drink products is primarily centered in Canada to serve its largest market. The product shown is the 'Pickled Bean' variant, which reflects the popular Canadian tradition of garnishing Caesars with pickled vegetables. Keurig Dr Pepper manages the brand through its Canadian subsidiary, Keurig Dr Pepper Canada.
