Lucozade Sport Raspberry is a popular isotonic sports drink formulated to provide carbohydrates and electrolytes for hydration and performance. The Lucozade brand originally debuted in 1927 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, created by chemist William Owen. Initially marketed as 'Glucozade' for medicinal recuperation, it evolved into an energy and sports-focused brand over the subsequent decades.
While the brand was historically owned by the British healthcare company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), it was sold in 2013 as part of a major divestment. Today, Lucozade is owned by Suntory Global Spirits (formerly Suntory Beverage & Food), a Japanese multinational company. For the UK market, the product is manufactured and distributed by Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I, primarily from their production facilities located in Coleford, Gloucestershire. The ownership transition has maintained the brand's strong British heritage while leveraging Japanese innovation in the beverage sector.
