OsmAnd mobile application

OsmAnd (OpenStreetMap Automated Navigation Directions) is a highly respected open-source offline navigation and map application. The project was initiated in 2010 by Victor Shcherb, who serves as the primary developer and technical lead. Unlike many proprietary GPS applications, OsmAnd relies on the community-driven OpenStreetMap (OSM) database to provide detailed, worldwide geographical data.

While the software is developed by a global community of contributors, it is professionally managed and maintained by the legal entity OsmAnd B.V., which is headquartered in the Netherlands. The application follows an open-source development model (GPLv3), allowing for transparency and community innovation. It is available on both Android and iOS platforms, offering both a free version and a 'Plus' premium version to support ongoing development and infrastructure costs.
