Albert Heijn's Earl Grey tea is a private label product from the Netherlands' leading supermarket chain. The brand dates back to 1887 when Albert Heijn Senior took over a grocery store in Oostzaan. Today, the AH brand is synonymous with Dutch retail history, offering a wide range of house-brand products that compete with international labels.
While the tea leaves themselves are sourced globally from regions like Sri Lanka (Ceylon), India, and China, the final processing, blending with bergamot flavoring, and packaging occur in the Netherlands or neighboring European countries. The AH brand is owned by Ahold Delhaize, a major multinational retail group formed through the merger of the Dutch Ahold and the Belgian Delhaize Group in 2016. The company remains headquartered in Zaandam, the Netherlands.
