Sabra is a widely recognized brand specializing in Mediterranean-style dips, most notably houmous and guacamole. The brand originated in the United States in 1986 under the name Sabra Blue & White Foods, founded by Yehuda Pearl in Queens, New York. It played a pivotal role in popularizing Middle Eastern cuisine in the Western market.
Today, Sabra Dipping Company is a joint venture headquartered in White Plains, New York. Manufacturing is primarily concentrated in a state-of-the-art facility in Chesterfield County, Virginia, which is one of the largest houmous factories in the world.
Ownership of the brand is split 50/50 between two global corporate giants: Strauss Group, an international food and beverage company based in Israel, and PepsiCo, the American multinational food, snack, and beverage corporation. This partnership allows Sabra to leverage global distribution networks while maintaining its roots in Middle Eastern culinary traditions.
