Gubernija Rugilė Gira (Kvass)

Rugilė is a popular brand of Gira (Kvass), a traditional fermented beverage made from rye bread or malt, produced by the historic Gubernija brewery in Šiauliai, Lithuania. Gubernija is one of the oldest industrial breweries in the Baltic region, with its history dating back to 1665. The Rugilė line is specifically recognized for its traditional fermentation process, resulting in a naturally carbonated and flavorful non-alcoholic drink that is a staple in Lithuanian culinary culture.

In 2018, Gubernija was acquired by MV GROUP Production, which is part of MV GROUP, one of the largest corporate groups in the Baltic States. This acquisition helped modernize the production facilities while maintaining the traditional recipes. Today, the brand remains a significant player in the Lithuanian beverage market and is exported to various international markets where there is a demand for authentic Eastern European fermented drinks.
