The production of HMD devices primarily takes place through partnerships with Foxconn (specifically FIH Mobile) in China and other manufacturing hubs in India and Vietnam to serve regional markets. In 2023, HMD also announced its transition into a multi-brand strategy, launching the 'HMD' original brand alongside the 'Nokia' licensed products.

Ownership of HMD Global remains private, with significant investments from entities like Google, Qualcomm, and FIH Mobile. As of early 2024, HMD is positioning itself as Europe's largest smartphone manufacturer by relocating some 5G smartphone production to Europe, specifically focusing on the security and sustainability needs of the Western market while maintaining its diverse global supply chain.
