DJI, short for Da-Jiang Innovations, is the world's leading manufacturer of civilian drones and aerial imaging technology. Founded in 2006 by Frank Wang, the company began as a small startup in a dorm room at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and eventually established its headquarters in Shenzhen, China, often referred to as the 'Silicon Valley of Hardware.'
Directly controlling most of its supply chain, DJI conducts the vast majority of its research, development, and manufacturing operations within Shenzhen. This vertical integration allows them to maintain a rapid innovation cycle for their Consumer, Professional, and Enterprise product lines. The brand is globally recognized for its Phantom, Mavic, and Air drone series, as well as its Osmo handheld stabilizers and action cameras.
Ownership of DJI remains largely private, with founder Frank Wang maintaining a significant stake. The company is headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, and operates through various global subsidiaries to manage regional sales, distribution, and support across North America, Europe, and Asia.
