The brand was initially developed under the company Bezzerwizzer ApS in Copenhagen. Over the years, because of its massive popularity across Europe and North America, the ownership transitioned as major toy conglomerates looked to diversify their portfolios. In 2021, the game was acquired by the French tabletop giant Asmodee Group. This acquisition integrated the former 'Bertel' products into a vast global distribution network, ensuring their presence in multiple languages and regions.
