Wagner Steinofen Pizza is a prominent brand in the frozen food sector, particularly famous for its stone-baked crust. The brand originated in Nonnweiler, Germany, where the Wagner family bakery started its transition into industrial pizza production in the late 1960s. Today, the majority of Wagner products continue to be manufactured at their original site in Nonnweiler (Saarland), which is one of the largest frozen pizza production facilities in Europe.
Since 2005, the brand has been under the umbrella of Nestlé, which initially acquired a majority stake and eventually took full ownership. However, in 2023, Nestlé entered into a joint venture with the private equity firm PAI Partners for its European frozen pizza business, creating the company Nestlé Wagner GmbH as part of the Yolo venture. This move aimed at accelerating growth in the competitive frozen food market while maintaining the brand's German heritage.
