The brand was established in 2010 by Swiss-Greek entrepreneur Jean Valvis through his company, Carpathian Springs SA. In August 2022, a significant strategic partnership was formed when PepsiCo acquired a 20% equity stake in AQUA Carpatica, gaining the exclusive distribution rights for the water in Romania and Poland, with the intent to expand its presence in international markets including the UK and USA. Despite this global partnership, the brand remains deeply rooted in its Romanian heritage and production facilities.
