Omeprazol Sandoz is a generic version of the proton pump inhibitor omeprazole, used to treat conditions such as acid reflux and stomach ulcers. The Sandoz brand has its roots in Switzerland, having been founded in Basel in 1886. For many decades, it was a core part of the Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis.
In October 2023, Sandoz was successfully spun off from Novartis to become an independent, publicly traded company. It is now a global leader in generic pharmaceuticals and biosimilars. While headquartered in Switzerland, the product is manufactured across various global facilities in Europe and Asia to supply international markets, including Sweden.
