Technically, while the brand is American, the manufacturing of the physical device is primarily handled by third-party facilities located in China to leverage global electronics supply chains. The device is powered by the Google Assistant, allowing users to speak voice commands to interact with services, play music, and control smart home devices.

The brand is owned by Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google. Alphabet is a massive multinational conglomerate that was created through a corporate restructuring of Google on October 2, 2015. It remains headquartered in Mountain View, California, and is one of the world's most valuable companies, overseeing various subsidiaries across technology, life sciences, and investment capital sectors.
