Hobgoblin Session IPA

Hobgoblin is an iconic British beer brand with roots in the Wychwood Forest of Oxfordshire. Originally founded as the Glenny Brewery in 1983 by Paddy Glenny, it was renamed Wychwood Brewery in 1990. The flagship Hobgoblin ale was famously inspired by a mythical forest sprite and became a staple of the British ale scene, known for its character-led marketing and distinctive artwork.

Following a series of acquisitions, the brand became part of the Marston's portfolio in 2008. In 2020, Marston's entered into a joint venture with Carlsberg UK, forming the Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company (CMBC). In late 2023, CMBC closed the historic Wychwood Brewery site in Witney to consolidate its operations. Today, production of Hobgoblin Session IPA is carried out within the broader CMBC network, primarily at their large-scale facilities in Burton-on-Trent or Wolverhampton.

In 2024 and beyond, the brand is under the ultimate ownership of the Carlsberg Group, which acquired full control of the CMBC joint venture. This transition marked the full shift of the legendary Oxfordshire brand into the portfolio of a global brewing giant headquartered in Denmark.
