Sony Xperia is a line of smartphones developed and manufactured by Sony Corporation. The brand was originally established as Sony Ericsson in 2001 through a joint venture between the Japanese electronics giant Sony and the Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson. In 2012, Sony acquired Ericsson's share in the venture, rebranding the line simply as Sony Xperia.

Today, Sony remains the ultimate owner of the brand. While the company is headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, Japan, it has shifted much of its smartphone manufacturing operations out of China to reduce costs and optimize its supply chain. Most modern Xperia devices are produced in Sony's dedicated facilities in Thailand, though certain high-end models or specific components may still be sourced from or assembled in Japan. Sony continues to position the Xperia brand as a premium offering, focusing on professional-grade camera technology and high-fidelity audio integration.
