Brahma is one of Brazil's most iconic and historical beer brands. Founded in 1888 by Joseph Villiger in Rio de Janeiro, it has grown from a local brewery into a global brand that represents Brazilian culture and festivities. The brand is particularly famous for its 'Chopp' (draught beer) and its long-standing association with football and Samba.

Over the decades, the ownership of Brahma has evolved through significant mergers. In 1999, Brahma merged with its competitor Antarctica to form Ambev (Companhia de Bebidas das Américas). This was a monumental shift in the Brazilian market. Later, in 2004, Ambev merged with Interbrew to form InBev, which eventually acquired Anheuser-Busch in 2008 to create AB InBev.

Today, Brahma is a key brand within the AB InBev global portfolio. While it remains deeply rooted in Brazil with numerous breweries across the country supplying the local market, it is also exported and produced under license in several other countries around the world, particularly in South America.
