Victa is an iconic Australian brand with a legacy dating back to 1952 when Mervyn Victor Richardson developed the first Victa rotatable lawnmower in Concord, New South Wales. For decades, the brand became synonymous with suburban Australian life, producing engines and mower frames domestically. While much of the design and assembly historically took place in Australia, modern manufacturing has transitioned to a global model. Products are now manufactured through a network of international facilities, including sites in the United States and various locations across Asia, to maintain competitive global distribution.
After decades of independent operation and subsequent ownership by various entities like GUD Holdings, Victa was acquired in 2008 by the American powerhouse Briggs & Stratton. This transition integrated Victa into one of the world's largest manufacturers of gasoline engines and outdoor power equipment. Under Briggs & Stratton's stewardship, Victa continues to be a leading brand in the OPE (Outdoor Power Equipment) sector, leveraging American engine technology while maintaining its distinct Australian brand identity and specialized product lines.
