Old El Paso is a world-renowned brand synonymous with Mexican-style cuisine, offering a wide range of dinner kits, salsas, and seasonings. The brand was established in 1917 by the Mountain Pass Canning Company in New Mexico, USA. It quickly grew from a local canning operation into an international leader in the global ethnic food market.
Over the decades, the brand underwent several ownership changes, eventually becoming part of the Pillsbury Company. In 2001, General Mills acquired Pillsbury, bringing Old El Paso under its extensive portfolio of consumer food brands. While the brand maintains a strong American heritage, its manufacturing is decentralized to serve global markets, with significant production facilities located in the United States and Spain to supply North American and European retailers respectively.
