Patak's is a world-renowned brand synonymous with Indian cuisine in the UK and beyond. Founded in 1958 by Laxmishanker Pathak and his wife Shanta, the brand began as a small family business in London selling samosas and sweets to fellow Indian immigrants. It quickly evolved into a manufacturing powerhouse for curry pastes, sauces, and ready-to-eat meals, becoming a staple in British supermarkets.
While the brand has deep heritage as a family-run enterprise, it was acquired in 2007 by Associated British Foods (ABF). Today, it is part of ABF's grocery division. Most Patak's products are manufactured at their large facility in Leigh, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, which serves as a global hub for the brand. However, as a global brand, some distribution and regional variations may exist depending on the specific market.
