Juanola is an iconic Spanish brand famous for its small, rhomboid-shaped licorice pastilles. Founded in 1906 by pharmacist Manuel Juanola Reixach in Barcelona's Gràcia neighborhood, the lozenges were originally sold as a pharmaceutical remedy for coughs and throat irritation. The unique artisanal production process mentioned on the packaging ensures that no two lozenges are exactly the same.
Today, the brand is owned by the Spanish pharmaceutical group Angelini Pharma España, which is the local subsidiary of the Italian multinational Angelini Industries. Despite its international corporate ownership, Juanola remains a deeply traditional Spanish product, with its manufacturing still rooted in Spain to maintain the heritage and quality that have defined the brand for over a century.
