Arla Havarti Cheese

Arla Havarti is a traditional Danish semi-soft cheese, named after Havartigården, the farm in Denmark where it was originally developed in the mid-19th century. As a result of its rich heritage, Havarti has gained the status of a Geographical Indication (GI) product in the EU, signifying its deep ties to Danish agriculture.

Today, the brand is owned and operated by Arla Foods, a major European dairy cooperative. Arla Foods is unique in that it is owned by thousands of dairy farmers across several European countries, though its heart and headquarters remain in Denmark. The production of Havarti specifically remains concentrated in Denmark to adhere to traditional standards and international exports.
