Jacobs is a historic German coffee brand with roots dating back to 1895, when Johann Jacobs opened his first specialty shop in Bremen. The brand quickly became synonymous with the 'magical aroma' (Verwöhnaroma) that still defines its marketing today. Jacobs Auslese Klassisch is one of its staple filter coffee varieties, characterized by a balanced roast and its iconic green packaging.
Over the years, the brand underwent several ownership changes, merging with the Swiss company Interfood in 1982 to form Jacobs Suchard, which was later acquired by Kraft Foods (now Mondelez International) in 1990. In 2015, the coffee businesses of Mondelez and D.E Master Blenders 1753 merged to create JDE Peet's. Looking toward 2026, the brand is transitioning under the ultimate ownership of the American beverage giant Keurig Dr Pepper, following a significant acquisition deal for JDE Peet's finalized in late 2025. While the brand is managed from the Netherlands, production remains strongly anchored in Germany to serve the European market.
