Pernod Anise Spirit

Pernod is one of France's most iconic and historic spirit brands, widely recognized for its distinct anise flavor. Its origins date back to 1805 when Henri-Louis Pernod established the first absinthe distillery in Pontarlier, France. After absinthe was banned in the early 20th century, the company reformulated its recipe to create the anise-based spirit commonly known today as Pernod Anise.

The brand has a long, prestigious history and was the catalyst for the formation of the global spirits giant Pernod Ricard. In 1975, the Pernod company merged with its former rival Ricard to create the parent corporation that now owns a vast portfolio of international drink brands. Today, Pernod continues to be produced primarily in France, maintaining its status as a staple of French café culture and a key ingredient in many classic cocktails worldwide.
