Slotts is a legendary Swedish brand, founded in Uppsala in 1919 by Holger Nilsson and the company AB Upsala Ättiksfabrik. For nearly a century, Slotts mustard was synonymous with Swedish manufacturing, with its production based in Uppsala. The brand became a staple in Swedish households, recognized for its iconic yellow and blue packaging and its Royal Warrant of Appointment.

In the late 20th century, the brand underwent significant ownership changes. It was acquired by CPC Foods (later Bestfoods), which was subsequently bought by the British-Dutch multinational Unilever in 2000. In 2008, Unilever made the controversial decision to close the historic factory in Uppsala and move production abroad. Today, while Slotts remains a fundamentally Swedish brand in spirit and origin, the mustard is manufactured in Poland. Unilever continues to be the ultimate owner, managing the brand from its global headquarters in London.
