This transition included a significant rebranding from the iconic blue bird to the black 'X' logo, reflecting a broader vision to turn the platform into an 'everything app' incorporating payments and video.

The service is primarily developed and maintained in the United States, with data centers and engineering teams located globally to support its international user base. As of 2024 and looking toward 2026, X Corp. remains a private entity under the control of Elon Musk, headquartered in Austin, Texas.
