Ritter Sport is an iconic German brand of chocolate bars, famous for its unique square shape and 'Quadratisch. Praktisch. Gut.' (Square. Practical. Good.) slogan. Founded in 1912 by Alfred and Clara Ritter, the company is headquartered in Waldenbuch, Germany. The signature square design was created in 1932 to allow a chocolate bar to fit into a sport jacket pocket without breaking, distinguishing it from the traditional rectangular bars available at the time.

Today, Ritter Sport remains a family-owned business, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing. They operate their own cocoa plantation in Nicaragua and were one of the first major chocolate manufacturers to switch entirely to certified sustainable cocoa. While the majority of production occurs at their primary facility in Waldenbuch, some manufacturing also takes place in Austria to meet global demand. The brand's ownership remains firmly in the hands of the Ritter family through the parent company Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG.
