Van Nelle is an iconic Dutch brand with a history dating back to 1782 when Johannes van Nelle and his wife started a small shop in Rotterdam. It grew into a major producer of coffee, tea, and tobacco. While the brand is deeply rooted in Dutch heritage and historically associated with the landmark Van Nelle Factory in Rotterdam, its ownership changed during the late 20th century.
Today, the coffee segment of the Van Nelle brand is owned by JDE Peet's, a global coffee and tea powerhouse. JDE Peet's was formed through the merger of Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) and the American coffee chain Peet's Coffee. The ultimate ownership of JDE Peet's lies with JAB Holding Company, an investment conglomerate based in Luxembourg. For the Dutch market, Van Nelle Supra is primarily roasted and packaged in JDE's facilities in the Netherlands, maintaining its traditional flavor profile for local consumers.
