Arnott's Shapes are a staple of Australian snacking history, originally launched in Victoria in the 1950s. This specific variety, Vegemite & Cheese, represents a collaboration between two of the country's most legendary brands, often marketed under the "Aussie Legends" banner. The biscuits are famous for their unique baking process where the flavor is baked into the dough and sprinkled on top, leading to the famous slogan "flavor you can see."
While Arnott's has deep roots in Australian culture, its ownership has transitioned through several international hands over the decades. Founded by William Arnott in 1865, the company was later owned by the American firm Campbell Soup Company for several years. Since 2019, Arnott's has been owned by KKR & Co. Inc. (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts), an American global investment firm.
Despite the American ownership, the production of Shapes remains firmly localized. The biscuits are produced in Arnott's manufacturing facilities within Australia, primarily in industrial centers like Huntingwood (Sydney) and Marleston (Adelaide), ensuring they maintain their status as an Australian-made product.
