Gundam Plastic Model (Gunpla)

Gundam model kits, commonly known as Gunpla, represent a massive cultural phenomenon originating from the Japanese science fiction media franchise created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise. These kits allow fans to build articulated scale models of the iconic giant robots known as Mobile Suits. Since their introduction in 1980, Gunpla has dominated the character model kit market globally.  

Manufacturing remains deeply rooted in Japan, specifically at the 'Bandai Hobby Center' in Shizuoka. This state-of-the-art facility integrates product development, design, and manufacturing, ensuring high-quality precision in the plastic injection molding process. Bandai's commitment to Japanese manufacturing is a point of pride for the brand, as the facility uses advanced technology to produce multi-colored parts on single runners.  

The brand is currently owned by Bandai Namco Holdings Inc., a Japanese multinational entertainment conglomerate. While Sunrise was the original studio behind the anime, it was fully integrated into Bandai Namco Filmworks. The parent company manages a vast portfolio of toys, video games, and amusement parks, maintaining Gundam as one of its most profitable intellectual properties.
