Le Petit Marseillais is an iconic French brand inspired by the scents and traditions of Provence, specifically the traditional soaps of Marseille. Founded in 1982 by Bernard Lengellé, the brand initially focused on vegetable-based soaps before expanding into a full range of personal care products including body washes, shampoos, and hand creams. Most units for the European market, including this hand cream, are manufactured in France, as proudly indicated on the packaging.
In 2006, the brand was acquired by the American multinational Johnson & Johnson. However, in 2023, Johnson & Johnson completed a spin-off of its consumer health division, forming a new independent company named Kenvue. Consequently, Le Petit Marseillais is now under the ultimate ownership of Kenvue, which is headquartered in the United States. Despite its American corporate ownership, the brand maintains its French identity and continues to formulate products based on Mediterranean-inspired ingredients.
