Candy is a historic Italian brand founded in 1945 by the Fumagalli family in Monza, Italy. The brand pioneered the Italian domestic appliance market, launching the first Italian washing machine, the 'Model 50,' shortly after World War II. Over the decades, Candy became a household name across Europe, known for its innovation in compact and energy-efficient home appliances.
While Candy's roots are firmly planted in Italy, its manufacturing footprint is global. Production takes place in several locations including China, Turkey, and various European facilities. This global supply chain allows the brand to maintain a competitive presence in the international market while leveraging advanced manufacturing technologies developed in major industrial hubs.
In 2018, the Fumagalli family sold the Candy Group to the Chinese multinational Haier Group Corporation. This acquisition integrated Candy into Haier's extensive portfolio, making Candy a key brand for Haier’s European expansion strategy. Today, Candy operates as part of Haier Europe, benefiting from the parent company's massive investment in 'smart home' technologies and Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity for modern appliances.
