Pelikan is a storied German brand that represents excellence in writing instruments and office supplies. Founded in 1838 by Carl Hornemann in Hanover, Germany, the company became iconic for its high-quality fountain pens and inks. The whiteboard marker shown is manufactured in Germany, continuing the brand's tradition of European production standards.
Historically, the brand was built by the Pelikan family and later became a publicly traded company. In 1996, the brand was acquired by the Pelikan Group, which eventually became part of the Pelikan International Corporation Berhad, a Malaysian-headquartered group. In late 2023 and early 2024, the business underwent a major ownership shift; the French stationery giant Hamelin acquired the operational business of the Pelikan Group. This move integrates Pelikan's heritage with Hamelin's vast distribution network, ensuring the brand remains a dominant force in the global office supply market.
