Mekorot Water Services

Mekorot is Israel's national water company and the country's main agency for water management. Founded in 1937, it was established by the Jewish Agency and the Histadrut labor federation to develop a reliable water supply system for the growing population in the region. Today, it is recognized globally as a leader in desalination, wastewater treatment, and advanced water reclamation technologies.

The company is wholly owned by the State of Israel and operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources. While it primarily manages the national water grid within Israel, its subsidiary, Mekorot Development and Enterprise Ltd., participates in international water projects, consultancy, and infrastructure development across various continents. Mekorot's manufacturing and extraction processes occur entirely within Israel, utilizing local aquifers, the Sea of Galilee, and state-of-the-art desalination plants along the Mediterranean coast.
