Originally developed by Lederle Laboratories, a subsidiary of American Cyanamid, it was first launched in the late 1970s. Over the years, the brand passed from American Cyanamid to American Home Products (later Wyeth), and then to Pfizer following its acquisition of Wyeth in 2009. This joint venture was eventually spun off into an independent company known as Haleon in 2022.
