Indane is a major brand of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in India, introduced by the Indian Oil Corporation in 1964. It was launched to bring modern, clean cooking fuel to Indian households, replacing traditional fuels like charcoal and firewood. Today, it serves millions of consumers across the country through a vast distribution network.
The brand is owned and operated by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a Maharatna central public sector undertaking owned by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. The cylinders are manufactured and refilled at various bottling plants located throughout India to ensure regional supply. As a government-owned entity, Indian Oil remains the ultimate owner and primary distributor of Indane products within the Indian market.
