Arc'teryx is a globally recognized premium brand specializing in high-performance outdoor equipment and apparel. Founded in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the company's name and logo are inspired by the Archaeopteryx, a transitional fossil between dinosaurs and modern birds. The brand is renowned for its industry-leading innovations in waterproof shell jackets, climbing harnesses, and technical backpacks.
While the brand maintains its headquarters and a specialized design and production facility known as ARC'One in Canada, the vast majority of its commercial manufacturing is distributed across East and Southeast Asia to meet global demand. This distributed supply chain allows for high-volume production while maintaining the strict quality standards the brand is known for.
Ownership of Arc'teryx has transitioned through several major corporations. Originally standalone, it was acquired by Salomon Group, then became part of the Finnish conglomerate Amer Sports. As of 2024 and looking toward 2026, Amer Sports is itself a publicly-traded entity, though its primary ownership group is led by the Chinese sportswear giant ANTA Sports. This provides Arc'teryx with significant global logistics and retail support while keeping its technical design core in Vancouver.
