The Mazda BT-50 is a mid-size pickup truck produced by the Japanese automaker Mazda. While the Mazda brand is synonymous with Japanese engineering, the BT-50's manufacturing and development have historically been tied to strategic partnerships. The first two generations were developed in collaboration with Ford Motor Company, sharing mechanical components with the Ford Ranger.
Starting with the third generation released in 2020, Mazda entered into a partnership with Isuzu. As a result, the current Mazda BT-50 is manufactured at Isuzu's assembly plants in Thailand, utilizing the Isuzu D-Max platform. Despite its industrial roots in Thailand and its platform shared with Isuzu, the vehicle maintains Mazda’s distinctive 'Kodo' design language and is marketed globally as a key part of Mazda's utility lineup.
Mazda Motor Corporation remains an independent global entity headquartered in Hiroshima, Japan. The company continues to focus on premium positioning and proprietary technologies like Skyactiv, while leveraging partnerships for specialized segments such as light commercial vehicles to ensure cost-efficiency and regional market penetration.
