While the brand originated in California, its manufacturing footprint has expanded significantly. Most consumer products for the North American market are manufactured in Little Rock, Arkansas. Furthermore, to cater to international demand, particular facilities were established in China.

In 2013, the brand was acquired from Unilever by Hormel Foods Corporation, an American food processing company based in Minnesota. Under Hormel's ownership, Skippy continues to be a market leader in the spreads category, maintaining its status as one of the most recognized peanut butter brands worldwide.
