The brand gained international acclaim for its 'Push Up' and 'Push In' denim technologies, blending fashion with functional body-shaping features. While its core manufacturing and research remain centered in Portugal's textile heartland, the brand leverages global supply chains for certain collections.

Originally created by the IVN company (Irmãos Vila Nova), the brand underwent a significant ownership transition. In 2016, Sonae Group acquired a 50% stake, and by 2020, Sonae took full 100% ownership of the brand. This move integrated Salsa into Sonae's extensive retail portfolio, ensuring its growth across Europe and the Middle East. As of 2024 and beyond, Salsa Jeans continues to operate as a key international asset under Sonae's management, headquartered in Maia, Portugal.
