Motorola is an iconic brand in the telecommunications industry, originally founded in the United States. The mobile division, Motorola Mobility, was created in 2011 after a split from its parent company. While the brand has deep American roots, its ownership changed significantly in the 2010s. Google initially acquired the company in 2012, but later sold it to the Chinese technology giant Lenovo in 2014.
Today, Motorola operates as a subsidiary of Lenovo. While global design and engineering often take place in Chicago, manufacturing is distributed globally to optimize supply chains. Major production hubs include China and Brazil, where Motorola maintains a significant market presence and local manufacturing facilities to serve the Latin American market.
