Originally founded by brothers Cyrus and James Clark in Somerset, England, the brand became famous for inventing the world's first sheepskin slipper. While the brand remains deeply rooted in British culture and maintains its headquarters in Street, Somerset, the ownership structure has evolved significantly. In 2021, the Hong Kong-based private equity firm LionRock Capital acquired a majority stake in the company, though members of the Clark family still retain a minority share.
